Hello all, I know squeaks, bumps, creaks etc are notoriously common on Astons, but I've searched these forums and can't seem to find a thread that describes mine:

When I turn the steering wheel (even if the car is stationary) there is a motorised sounding squeak as I'm turning the steering wheel. It's fairly quiet but loud enough to notice even while moving. The best way I can think to describe it is that it sounds like a "servo" on a remote control car, or a coat zip being rapidly done up or undone. I've noticed it is much more pronounced if cornering more aggressively than you might normally.

Now I've read up on the calliper/handbrake rubbing noise, but since I hear it while the car is stationery I'm ruling that out. Could it be the power steering pump or something? I've only had the car a couple of weeks and I'm only just getting used to it so it may have been there all along, but thought it was worth asking!

Thanks,
Rich

Does it do it before it gets to full lock?
Or only on full lock?
If the later it is the pump relieving pressure
Either way get it checked

Thanks Burntout, that would make sense.

mikey k - it's before the lock, it happens whenever the steering wheel is turned. It's not really obvious - passengers only noticed once I pointed it out, but I'll get it checked.

I have the same issue; I noticed it some weeks ago but never noticed it before.
I have the feeling it is linked to the cold weather here in Switzerland. Definitely it did not occur in summer.
