The world is conspiring against me

Flying home from a work trip, last time I got caught in back weather and missed my flight. This time, everything was going well, a little too well. Get to my parents house from heathrow, go to move my mums car off the drive so that I can get mine out, her key is with her in central london, so used the spare. her spare key doesn't work, which is strange, because it always used to, and it's definitely the right key because it unlocked the car.

Except that the car had a new ECU fitted a while ago and the spare key hasn't be reprogrammed, so the immobiliser is staying armed.

Still got an hours drive home even once I have my mum's key. And then work in the morning.

If the car is unlocked why can't you take the handbrake off and just shove it out of the way?

Oh good point, the drive is very steep, going down from the road - very few cars will actually get onto the drive because of how steep it is.
