Did the Disney thing last year,looking at Naples this time.

Can you recommend a hotel for a family with 14 and 12 year olds.

Naples and surrounding area is lovely but not too much in the way of entertainment for kids of your age AFAIK.

You might want to do a search for houses and apartments to rent as there are so many the prices have to be competetive and could work out cheaper than a hotel and you would probably have a private pool as well. I did this with Mrs Ghost and still went out to eat most days with just some grazing food and chilled drinks in the rather cavenous fridge.

This is a must and quite easy to do.
We've been a few times - stay in Homestead (40 miles SW of Miami). Plenty of motels there. The main entrance to the park is just outside Homestead.
If you go to Naples afterwards, then there's another entrance to the National Park off the HWY 90 / 41 at Shark Valley. Also along this 90 / 41 is one of the most amazing detour roads in Florida. Also, if you've flown to Miami, then spend a few days there on the way back. The Biscayne National Park just south of Miami (and close to Homestead) is a great place to go on an organised snorkelling trip.
I'm sure your kids will love the Everglades. (Also, don't waste your money on any of the commercial Alligator parks - you'll see LOADS in the wild - even had to swerve / brake for them on the main highway). Agree with that - we've done two centre holidays and just wished we'd staying in Orlando the whole time.

Sure, there are odd things to do, but not enough for an entire holiday with teenage kids.

If you have never been to Orlando you could easily spend two weeks here and not do the same thing twice, we(my wife, me and 14 yo Son) spent 3 weeks there back in October and this was our 9th time in 9 years and we still had a blast.

I always thought to myself if you can't have a good time in Orlando you should just give up trying. For a family I simply think that you can do no better, there is something that everyone will enjoy regardless of their age.
