Hi,

Having problems with a heated windscreen replaced on insurance. It was replaced once and heated screen wored fine, but due to a seperate fault the screen had to be swapped out again. 2nd time round the heated screen doesn't work.
I belive the Focus has two connections to the screen, one at top middle, the other bottom middle.
I can see the bottom connector which appears to be plugged in fine, though I can't properly get to it until I remove the wipers tonight when I get home.
How do I get to the top connector? Does it require windscreen removal or should I be able to get to it myself?

I think you should be calling the guys who fitted it back out; if it worked before and doesn't now, it could be down to the installation.

MkI Focus pre 2000 Y-reg - there are two connections, one in each (bottom) corner accessed by removing the wiper cowl. The earth is also there secured to the body by a bolt.

MkI Focus 2000-2005 there is one connector, middle (bottom). Again, wiper cowl off to access it. The earth is at the top, secured to the body by a bolt and can be got at by removing the courtesy light assembly.

MkII Focus 2005-2010 screen is earthed behind the courtesy light assembly at the top (like the later MkI) and the live feeds are connected at the bottom like the earlier MkI).

Thanks Glassman. It's a 2002 MK1.

I'll probably call them back out, but i'm quickly losing faith in their ability to do the job! Just wanted to check if it was a quick fix.

Thanks again.

Thanks for your help.

They're coming back out next week to change the windscreen. Guy on the phone suggested they may have damaged the connecting straps when removing and re-fitting the windscreen previously.

Here's hoping...

Just an update to say the windscreen was replaced again, although 1 half of the heated screen seems to de-mist a lot quicker than the other half, though both halves are working. Can't figure that one out.

Also found this morning that the nut securing the drivers side wiper hadn't been tightened correctly, as it got stuck on a lightly iced windscreen and clashed with the passenger side wiper. I'll re-tighten it myself tonight.

I think that's the last time I will ever use this particular windscreen company!

Oh dear. Three attempts.
