Guys, looking at a Grand Punto for the Mrs.

Need an auto, is the auto box in a Punto circa 2007 a proper auto or is it just one of those clutchless (the pedal)autos but you still have to move the stick?
All the pictures I look at seem to suggest a semi auto albeit with 2 pedals and manual shift.
Thanks

Its not a torque converter auto, its a manual box with electroic clutch (I think), you can drive it as an auto but the shifts are a bit jerky.

It's an automated manual gearbox. It takes some getting used to, however the car will actually adapt to you as a driver, strange as that may seem.

We have a very nice for sale if your interested? Low miles. Lots of spec and in very good nick.

I was considering one of these for my dad a few months back as he needs an Auto due to a bad leg.. great proposition on paper: punchy engine, cheap, nice spec, good looking Sporting kit etc... until we test drove one. One of the worst gearboxes i've ever experienced. I'd arrived at the dealership and i could tell the sales exec thought he's got me in the bag (and I thought the same!)... and then on the test drive after one block i told him that I'm sorry but can we head back

if your budget can stretch, the MINI boxes seem better. just IMO of course
