iphone mount, what do you use?

i want to use my iphone 4s with the harrys lap timer app this year on trackdays. i know that suction mounts are not allowed at most circuits nows so what do you guys use? i dont want to mount it to the seat as 20 year old 205 seats are a bit wobbly but could mount something to the top of the dash.

There has to be a market for someone with a bit of product design nous to come up with a device which can be screwed to the dash and holds the phone securely im the event of a 'bump'.

there is the ram mounts but they are a bit expensive for something that gets used a handfull of times a year. i am making my own now, its gonna be a hybrid of a rear view mirror mount and a proper iphone suction mount.
