Headlights seem to be a huge topic on motoring forums out there,but it seems to me that driving with one light blown is roadworthy,is this correct!
If not why are the authority's not doing anything about it.That's the thing about the MOT system,it might be a good thing but thousands of driver's out there will leave the blown headlamp till the car goes for MOT,that is totally unacceptable in my opinion.
The other thing that makes me mad are these non OE bulbs on the market,they nearly all seem to blind oncoming motorists,and these badly adjusted or badly fitted bulbs as well.A lot of people out there also drive with tons of rubbish in the back or boot of the car and that also blinds oncoming traffic,which makes it obvious that none of them know when or how to use the manual headlamp adjuster's on the dashboard.
All cars should have auto leveling devices fitted to prevent blinding oncoming traffic.
Can anyone tell me what the % symbol with number means on the headlamps of nearly all the cars?

If a light is fitted it must be in working order, construction and use regs.
It does not get enforced because plod are too busy dealing with all the other crap that no other agency wants to be bothered with and most of the few Traffic police we do have, have been turned into armed response police.

Because there is no one around to enforce it. Never mind speed traps, if the coppers want to make money they out to set up a roadblock and stop every car with a light out - they'd make a fortune.
Even worse a re brake lights. I was behind a 3 Series today with both side brake lights out and only two sections of the centre light working

We followed a Peugeot down the M3 last year that appeared to have not put the lights on, we flashed our lights to try and make him aware but nothing changed. We overtook him and it turns out he did have his lights on, but only one headlight was working Even worse a re brake lights. I've been stopped 3 or 4 times for lights not working in the past last time a couple of years ago (driving to work in the light but in fog, light was working when I drove home in the dark the night before), gives the BiB chance to breath test you too at 8am ish, VOSA team was working with plod on that occasion and gave the car a good looking over.
yes they could make a fortune,never mind speeding fines,this is easy money for the old bill

A lot of it will be down to the old "refer to dealer" when looking in the how to change bulbs bit in the manual.
Quite why cars are allowed to be built so bumpers etc have to come off to change bulbs is madness.
It's at the point now that when I look to buy a car one of the criteria I look for is - Can I change the bulbs myself.Any car with refer to dealer no matter how good it is won't be getting bought.
