Anyone know this 996 GT3?
Discussion
Been looking a while, looks good value, not heard of the dealer...any advice? (of course inspection is a must)

Why has it got an RS front PU, would be one question.
Concours winner?
Never been tracked?
Indeed.

Indeed.
Possibly previous front end damage ? I would check the condition of the boot floor VERY carefully, when I was looking for a GT3 last year, many of the cars for sale (including those at respectable well known independents) had damage to the boot floor, which indicated they had endured a front end impact of some sort.
Concours winner
Unlikely with 45k miles on the clock - I imagine this is simply the seller stretching a point (as they often do)
Never been tracked
Who knows....? personally, I don't mind if a car has been tracked, provided it has been properly maintained
As the OP says - an inpsection is essential, if it was my money I'd be inclined to buy one in a more dramatic colour - SY, Guards etc, but at the end of the day the overall integrity / condition of the vehicle is more important than the colour
Don't disagree with all that's been said about the PU, but personally I think it looks great. Adds a more dramatic front end and if all checks could be a nice addition if you like that kind of thing.
£34k looks at the lower end of the range for a clubsport though so careful checking would be in order...

I bought a car from this dealer last year. He seems to have some pretty exotic machinery from time to time.
My advice would be to get it inspected very carefully.
I p/x'ed my 996 with him - he didn't even start it or look inside it before giving me a reasonable p/x price. He did sell it himself afterwards, but I doubt much/any prepping went into it looking at the price difference.
My gut feeling was not to expect too much in after sales service should a problem arise, but I was happy with the deal I got and allowed for this as a result. This was just my feeling, I may be wrong and he might have been outstanding in the event of any issues (there haven't been any, so far)

I haven't clicked the link but surely if it's a concours winner there will be a prize (or report) of some kind to prove it?
Even it is has won a concours (Which one?), I dont see that making any difference. It may have been rolled at the ring the very next day?Quality inspection required. Thats all really.

Could it be the ex targa florio cars of Chichester car?
This was for sale there last summer, then got punted on in the trade to another dealer in Yorkshire/Lancashire iirc?
Now it appears here, no-ones having much luck with it.
If its the same car I hasten to add (though mileage, keepers, rs pu & the story sound the same).
I viewed it at targa florio whilst I was down for the goodwood fos, they weren't pushing any concourse waffle but it did have a lot of Porsche owners club bumf with it, that basically amounted to it having been registered on the gt3 owners list, not a lot more.
Also iirc the car had been serviced on mileage rather than time? Can't be 100% on that so double check, rads were weeping, abs light was on though this was probably down to the flat battery but the discs were shot as we're the (yellow) pads.
Certainly not led a sheltered life, though I was most put off by the cars prep, targa knew we were coming down for a good week & couldn't even get the battery charged, poor stuff.
I didn't check the paint depth as I'd forgotten my meter so can't comment on the rs front bumper.
Also by this point targa were offering the car at 34k including a Porsche service which it needed (though they said it needed a minor it actually required the major one.
I walked.
This is all if it's the same car by the way-do your homework.

Is that not Spenny-B (spelling) old car?
I suspect it could be, Targa Florio had a 965 Turbo that SB part chopped his car for (though that's an assumption on my part)The bumper was replaced because SB hit a fox at high speed. No other damage was sustained to the car at the time to my knowledge.
It was a very tidy car. The brakes weren't indicative of the rest of the car. I sold SB a set of nearly new Alcons, I imagine he took them off prior to PXing the car and put the tired original discs and pads back on it.It also had a Tequipment cage fitted.

yep that's the same car i looked at then as the stories are the same.(again though whether this was the same car that is linked above i wouldn't know?)

no tequipment cage when at targa iirc?? but i still wouldn't put it down as a very tidy car, not as bad as some i'd seen but as i said in my post i was most unimpressed with the prep (or lack of it) that they'd done.cragswinter said:

I imagine the T cage came out along with the Alcons. It may not be the same car, as Targa Florio stressed in their advert that they'd never bought a car before that required so little (or indeed no) prepping prior to placing it on sale. The last time I saw SBs car it was absolutely immaculate both inside and out.
SB never tracked the car, but the PO did.
Hi
I just spoke to the dealer about this car and am planning to go and have a look. Not the best colour IMO but if it is a straight car and the servicing has been done well, worth a closer look and perhaps a professional inspection.
Would be interested to know if this is the Targa Florio car or if anyone has any words of caution - registration number of this car is YJ53 ZJN.
Thanks
