Since I originally got into this job through an advert on PH, I thought I'd pop this post up and see what comes of it.

The final details have yet to be completely firmed up, but broadly I need a self-starting IT professional to become the country IT manager for a role in Iraq.

If you're still reading this and the thought of working on a 28 days on, 28 days off rotation basis in Iraq doesn't scare you off then this is what I need.

Degree qualified (this is a must in order to obtain the correct work visa)
Broad IT experience... you'll be the only IT person on a sizeable site and as such will be expected to be able to do a little of everything... we are a Microsoft house though, so Linux etc experience isn't required.
Comms experience.... in addition to the IT, you'll also have responsibility for an Avaya based telephony system, experience of maintaing and basic programming of the same would be a distinct advantage.
We have fibre and microwave on site also, so knowledge of these areas would be handy.
An ability to think on your feed and make-do-and-mend.... the site is miles from the nearest city, so spares and backup will not be readily available.
In addition to the day to day stuff, there will also be web related projects to do, knowledge of Joomla, javascript etc would be good.
I'm reallying hoping here, but if you speak Arabic that would be great.

In return you'll be offered a good salary package, flights, healthcare etc etc

I appreciate the above isn't very detailed, but feel free to ask any questions and if you're interested, drop me a copy of your CV through PH together with a short covering letter detailing why you'd like to work in this role and what strengths you think you can bring to the operation along with your salary expectations.

Drop me your CV anyway if you want to, this role is the first of a few that are planned over the next 12-18 months

Hi Del.

A friend mentioned this link, and I'm interested in hearing more. I've only just signed up so I cant message for another 24 hours, do you have an email address I can use in the meantime?

Just for info, I'm currently working in Baghdad as an IT Manager already, I can give you more details via email.

Sounds good. Does the healthcare policy cover being beheaded?
