Tough compact camera?

Hi all, I am looking for the smallest/thinnest compact I could take in my motorcycle's tank bag when I'm out or on a trip. There are always some places I get to where I'd like to take a pic of something peculiar/landscape etc, but my Blackberry's 2mp camera is useless.

What would you recommend that's quite tough and won't suffer too much from vibrations (any sort of rubber case / shock absorbing accessorie welcome too).
We've got a nice little Lumix HD but that's really the wife's and expensive to be knocked about on the bike. Anything areound the £150 mark or under welcome.
Something that can be used with gloves would be the icing on the cake..

I have got a Sony TX10 which is toughened and waterproof but looks slim like a non-ruggedised camera.

It was a bit more than £200 when I bought it, but it has been phased out now so there might be some bargains about.

Such devices tend to be waterproofed as well so this guide, which is by no means a full report on the market, may be of some use.

My daughter and her partner bought a Sony TX10 last year. It sames some good snaps and the panoramas mode works well albeit it is has its limits. However the touch screen is a slightly more acquired taste for doing some things (great for others) and may not be as scratch resistant as some may wish for. A thin pouch might be a good idea when carrying it.

Having bought and sold three of the cameras in that test, I settled on a Panasonic FT-10; shockproof, waterproof and dustproof. Like you mentioned, this one spends its life in the bike tankbag. It even comes with a nifty silicon jacket.

Picture quality is excellent (unlike the others which were severely lacking in many areas) and it has good battery life.

Should be available for a good price now, I would have thought, with the new model being out.

I just use a zip lock bag and put the camera in the tail pack or a pocket.
When I take the SLR I use a drybag and pack it with my clothes. Never had a problem with either method and it saves getting a lower spec camera just to get waterproofing.
