If normal cars looked like sports/supercars.....
Discussion
If normal cars started looking like high-end sports cars or supercars, would you consider this to be a good or bad thing?
Just looking at the new Mondeo thread got me thinking that over the years the gap has been closing somewhat between these two genre's. Even companies like Lexus and Hyundai are getting quite close.

I don't think a few design cues amount to looking like a supercar. A true supercar is a fundamentally falwed thing in terms of interior space etc so has nothing to fear from a 4 door saloon/hatch with a big boot.
If it allows the family man to enjoy that sense of style and pride in his daily motor, I'm all for it. Having said that, only the Ford seems to have shown any inclination to do it.

I don't think it's got any closer or further apart tbh.
Cars have gone through evolutions and revolutions time and time again. Sometimes they look great, other times they don't. And in most cases it's personal.
This new Mondeo looks ok'ish and has an Aston like grill. But it doesn't look like an Aston Martin, it looks like a normal middle of the road saloon car. Which is exactly what it is.

There's no reason for regular cars to not be designed to look good, but a few supercar esque design details don't really make a car look like a supercar. Also, familiarity with a shape often dulls it's impact, with the MK1 Focus as a prime example - lauded as a brilliant design when it came out, ubiquity soon meant that the car lost much of it's intrigue.
On the other hand, it can be argued that good design is good design, but I don't think supercar proportions tend to be overly practical in terms of boot, family space and visibility.

Depends on the manufacturer - eg, Hyundai, Kia, Proton, and the like don't mind - those are going to be bought without aisperations that the looks suggest.
An Alfa Romeo, or Ford on the other hand, has to have something to go with the looks. Alfa - sweet engine noise, breakdowns a plenty, sweet responsive chassis. Ford - like the Mustang.
