I have a 94 and it doesn't have the fuse.
I think they started putting them on cars from 95 onwards but don't hold me to that!

On my 96 500 it's on the underside of the lower main chassis rail, driver side. Just forward of the starter motor. If you get under the car and look in this area it should be obvious if it is there. It's about 3" long and black usually, look for the thick cable that runs from the alternator down to the starter motor. But as already stated you may not have one.

If the light is on and it is charging, it isn't the main fuse.

FYI the main fuse is usually in a plastic holder on the offside chassis rail next to the sump.

Hi Jes, no big fuses before 94/95, as with TVR it depends which bit of '94. If there is one it will be near/under starter motor location on chassis leg, with "obviously" large cables running to/from it!!!

I definately don't have one on my '93!!!

New Alternator??

Happy New Year

If you need a new altenator, there are a lot of cheapies around.

I was lucky enough to pick up a genuine Land Rover one from a L/R dealer on ebay who was having a clear out of old stock for about £90.00.

In case anyone searches in future, like Colin, I have a 96 500 but I have an additional 100 amp ( now 125 amp) fuse in behind the battery. I know I'm not alone in this so may be worth a check now so you know for the future. When mine went the car was completely dead. Not good in the dark on the M6.....

Agreed.
That fuse pops, and your car dies; soon.
