blue v8 wedge 1 penney
Discussion
You know it's interesting, there doesn't seem to be a lot of middle ground with these cars does there?
They largely seem to be long term stored cars which need a lot of work to get back on the road and presentable (like my car really), or fairly well cherished cars which command a decent price.
I know it's that old chestnut of 'wedges will go up in value', but it does make me think. They'll always be rare cars, and once the cheap project cars dry up (if that ever happens!
) there'll only be cherished enthusiat cars left.
As for this one? I'd want to take a LONG HARD LOOK over it in person first. Something tells me the bodywork is far from original and that it could be very rough around the corners - although that's just a hunch!

No, there'll always be a few 'unfinished projects' that get bought and then sold, still as unfinished projects (and probably missing a few more bits), by people who have more money than skills or commitment.

The rear spoiler is Zender as stated above, something that was "trendy" by certain TVR dealers in the 80's. Mine has one too. Weren't they sourced from BMW.
I always understood it to be a TVR special. Made of squidgy foam, although rumour has it that TVR got fed up paying the prices and took a mould, so later ones were GRP and weighed a ton.ETA: Looking closely at the spoiler, it seems to be mounted too far forward on the bootlid. Also, on mine there's a cutout on the bottom at each end to clear the wings, and the bottoms of the inboard pillars are shaped to match the curve of the rear top edge of the lid.
So I wonder if it's a Zender from another car...

I had mine fitted by Dave Haughin when I bought the car, and it's one of the soft types, and if you wanted it painting, a flexible paint had to be used or it would crack obviously. I think later TVR did get their own mold, as some of the later series 2 cars had the solid (fibreglass ?) ones which could be painted with normal body spray. I'm sure Dave said that mine was sourced from BMW, but which model ? don't know. But Google it and I've seen the same as mine on an 80's 325i saloon.ETA: Looking closely at the spoiler, it seems to be mounted too far forward on the bootlid. Just found the original Haughins receipt in my folder £150 in 1987 and part number was Zen183
Wedg1e -you are right, looked at the picks of this blue one and it's fitted too far forward. The centre pillars are supposed to fit the curve of the boot lid. I also see (like many others at the time) they cut a hole in the spoiler on the nearside to allow the aerial through. I moved the aerial to the center the boot surround close to where the hood joins the body.
