time has come to replace the rubber on my KNs. The Pirellis which came as factory fitted seem ok but I only got 14k out of them. Does anyone know if they are a special tyre or could I swap to Pilot Sports etc. ?

The size does seem odd

cheers

What size wheels have you got Guy?

I have 20" on my KN and the Contis are very good on these.

I've got 19's and it looks like Pirelli are the only ones who do the correct size: 275 / 45 / ZR19 108

Guy, I know it's for a different car but I have been very happy with Michelin's Diamaris tyres on my X5 4.6is and now on my 4.8is. I use 315/35 and 275/40 on a 20" rim and I believe the smallest of these is the same size as fitted by Porsche on the 20" Cayenne rims.

The good news is they are reasonably easy to get hold of and this is an overiding concern when you drive a car that 'doesn't' use a full sized spare.

I looked into the Conti's and Pirellis but the Michelin Diamaris is highly rated for it's resistance to aquaplaning and I also find it a very 'sporty' tyre that resists fade and has a stiffer sidewall for good chassis/steering response.

I manage to replace a set of four for just under £900, so they're well priced too.

p.s. I've just had a look on www.mytyres.co.uk and it seems that the only alternative in your size is the Dunlop SP Sport 9000... but they cost £211.40 ea compared to £135.90 for the Pirelli P Zeros.
