A creation from McLaren Special Operations, the exclusive High Sport (HS) is limited to only 5 examples, built for an American customer.

The MP4-12C HS features a completely redesigned front nose to maximize downforce and increase airflow to the turbo intercoolers therefore resulting in higher boost pressure. Increase in power output is allegedly 75 hp (56 kW).
Modifications at the rear include a new rear bumper with rear vents similar to the MP4-12C GT3 race car, an extended diffuser and a modified active rear wing which seems to be missing its lower half.

The owners of two of the bespoke vehicles include the crown prince of Bahrain and McLaren executive chairman himself, Ron Dennis.

More details from Mclarenlife.com;

-There are only 5 made worldwide.
-HS stands for "high sport" limited edition version.
-The price is between half a million to 3/4 of a million for each car (but since there are only 5 made it seems rather cheap since the original Mclaren that had more than 70 produced sells around 2-3 million dollars).

One of the mechanics in addition to the dealer confirmed the following performance indications regarding the HS.

- The front louvers are a performance enhancement due to the fact that it gets the air out that is generated within the fender of the front wheels at high speed which generates lift. (While all cars generate lift at high speed, cars fitted with front louvers like most race cars dont generate any lift do to this phenomenon.)

- The car apparently was designed and tested in the Windtunnel and generates ALOT more downforce than the original one.

- All enhancements are done in carbon fiber.

-horsepower and troque are increased by a secret undisclosed amount that not even the dealership knows how much, but the whisper is around 75 horsepower increase compared to the original.

-the whole front nose of the car was redisgned under strict specifications by Mclaren to enhance the downforce performance and increase air flow to the turbo intercoolers in order to maintain higher boost pressures. Apparently Mclaren invested close to half a Million dollars in research and development to design and certify the new front nose.

-Also the rear opening and diffusers enhance stability and downforce performance.

Already covered here...

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Either way some McLaren customers may be very unhappy they paid £200k+ and now there is a better version of their car, one of which is owned by the Chairman!

It's like Ferrari creating a super version of the 458 for the Ferrari Boss and him sticking his fingers up to all the normal 458 customers.

If they released it as a GT3 version (like F do with the Scuderia) that would be OK - but this is just a slap in the face...

Go faster version then, one for the collectors perhaps?
Why only five?

Some influential American buyer wanted five, not sure how Ron D ended up owning one though. You'd think he could just build his own ridiculously awesome sleeper MP4-12C. Rumored 75bhp increase sounds like a lot.
