Selling my private plate on retention

Hi All,

I am sure this has been asked many times before, however having a dilemma.

Put an advert for my private plate currently on retention, someones called, wants to buy...need to clarify 2 things;

1) He signs nominee details on Retention Document V778, I sign, he sends off with his £25 cheque.
2) Can I give him the plates that I had on my car once Retention Document is signed and cash agreed?

Any help on the above would be massively helpful.

Can't you just sign it, can't recall what section, send it off and let him do the rest. Once you have the cash of course. Not sure why the buyer would want your old plates, I wouldn't bother with that.
