MrsWhyNot (a teacher) is involved in a school production of Grease next month. She's just heard there's a problem with the stage prop car they were supposed to be hiring and that leaves her needing to find a replacement.

It's a long shot but we could really do with a generic lightweight body or front end that's light enough to be carried by a few sixth-formers; small enough to squeeze in through large double doors; and available from appx 13th - 29th Feb. Detailed condition or style is not that important but fans of the story(!) will know the car ends up looking amazing so it would be good to be able to carry this off, at least from a distance.

If only there was a far-reaching network of car enthusiasts with all manner of vehicular artefacts tucked in garages around the region scratchchin If you happen to have or know of something that might fit the bill please drop me a PM. Hire had been planned so there is a small budget available.

Thanks- AWN

A front end such as this would be enough but other options could be considered. I suppose sourcing from a scrappy might work if we can strip out the workings...

Hello And,

well I do have a R45 shell buck (on castors and frame, no wheels) but thats in Essex just now as I have run out of storage space for the various moulds etc I am now housing. The "front end" that Steve mentions is indeed off the main car just now, its the only one I have and would come with all sorts of terms & conditions such as no photography ;-), 2 x security guards present at all times, blah, blah.....its feels a bit too precious I'm afraid (but I am probably feeling a bit cautious as well)

Hey if you get stuck drop me a PM to see what could be done as I owe you for helping Jos when we did the Spec C nightime- she got an A in her GCSE photograhy last year which was great! Cheers, Mark

bit off topic, but is that seriously a school production?!!

We used to have a cardboard box with 2 permanent marker headlights drawn on it when we did school productions involving cars!!

Thanks Mark

No joy yet but have other avenues to explore. Keep imagining the R45 sitting there on stage with random petrolhead audience members paying zero attention to the production, instead trying to work out what the car is

The pic I posted, not sure if it's a school production or a professional stage version. Her school wants to embrace it as thoroughly as possible though which means more that the cardboard box route. They have a massive hall for so can seat hundreds per evening to offset the expense of such an endeavour.

Get in touch with Mark at Dreamshack/Powerslide Rides and ask him if the other half of the car on the wall in this thread is available. Maybe ask him to knock up a dolly of some sort for wheeling it around on.
He's based at Swanmore, Hants.

How about a 32 ford shell, very light, and a grille with a couple of headlamps attached?

Thanks for your mail Mark and for sorting out to view the shell earlier. That '32 is going to be just the job.
