I have had to keep taking the ruddy battery out of its Cave ( passengers footwell ) almost as many times as I've had hot dinners, but Still can't seem to work out how all the wiring , Ecu etc is meant to go back around ? Alongside ? On top ? Of the battery and then get the Toe board to sit correctly .

Anyone have a photo ? Griff is a 98 .

I beleive earlier ie 93 cars had a different shape to the inner body , to the left of the battery ?

Its better alongside than on top: less chance of shorting the battery or fuse box terminals. Also less susceptible to up and down vibration. Try making room for it then velcroing it to the transmission tunnel carpet. Keep it clear of the heater valve servos though.

My ECU located upright in front of battery on a soft pad. This makes room for a battery cut off switch to prevent battery drain when not used. All the relay wiring, loose stuff etc stuffed into a bubble post bag on top. No problem with locating the foot rest card.

Eddie,
Isn't sticking the cables into a combustible jiffy bag asking for trouble?

Only if it catches fire ;-)

I could never get mine down the side, so have to put it on top with the wiring down the side. The only issue was when the rubber matting insulating the ECU from the battery slipped and the ecu shorted out. Very fried ECU and very dead car....

Wise advice Simon. TVR supplied terminal battery top carpet, also a minimal fire risk. My tyres more likely catch fire !!! Cheers...................Eddie

If any guy with a BMW, Porsche or the like saw these pictures they would be thinking, "thought as much, just a pile of bits in no particular order, glad I bought a ........" smile.

Your not wrong there!

That whole area is terrible, I think moving the battery would help alot and the ecu to inside the dash?

Suppose I better move it 'up' my top do list

I have a BMW. Safe, easy to drive, wife prefers it. BUT BORING ! unlike the challenging Griff.

Now why doesn't my footwell look like that ?? Must try to sort it .

I have lost count the number of times that " Hissy ( Janey Legs / My Ex ) " has asked why she has no flaming leg room I'n this Damn car !

With passenger seat fully back, my leg room is 21.5 in from front top edge of passenger seat to bottom corner of toe guard. If I placed ECU on top of battery I could gain +3 inches if my battery could be pushed further forward. Mine is too wide to do so. Those high energy expensive batteries some folks are fitting in boot or behind seat are smaller and could give more leg room in foot well and better suit 6 footers.
