Breadvan!!??!!
Discussion
I just fancied a little rant, why all of a sudden have people started reffering to every car with a squarish rear as a "Breadvan" first three threads i read this morning i have seen, EP3 CTR, 145 Cloverleaf and even a Z3M called "Breadvan"
Its similar to when everyone was calling thie estate car a "Wagon".
Sorry just need to vent a bit on a friday morn.

Although the term breadvan was originally coined for the Ferrari 250GT, it has been used more recently to describe similar looking cars. The Z3MC couldn't be any more of a 'breadvan' if it tried.

I thought that the Z3M Coupe was the car that originially made the 'breadvan' term a popular descriptive for some cars. But yes, it's a daft trend when applied to many cars (although I find it endearing when enthusiasts use it to refer to the Z3M).
I just thought that the most bizare one of all? i really like the Z3M and think that its a cracking looking car for a BMW, just "Breadvan" WTF??I remeber the old VW Polo from the 80's used to be called a "Breadvan" i can understand that.

My dad usd to call estate cars a 'shooting brake'
shooting brake normally refers to expensive, fast cars that have had an estate like bit bolted on the back, something you can get the guns, a few bottles of shampas and the pheasants in
this is the very definition of a shooting brake

Z3M Coupes will always be breadvans to me, just like CSL's will always be Batmobiles.

The CTR has been called the breadvan pretty much since it came out for some reason. Just one of those things, it's certainly not a new nickname.
It does seem i'm a little late to the party with all the Breadvan nick names being kicked about. Ah Well got something of my chestmahesket said:

In my book, a wagon/estate has four doors and a tailgate, the above have 2 doors (which would indicate hatchback/coupé) and a square box from the B-post rearwards. Its similar to when everyone was calling thie estate car a "Wagon".
Calling the 145 and EP3 'breadvans' is stretching it IMO, they're just hatchbacks with the Honda suffering the additional indignity of being of OAP-friendly height.
