Flat battery on DB9
Discussion
Having left the DB9 standing for a while, the battery has gone flat. Can't open it with the ECU, but I should be able to get in with the little metal key. Whereabouts do I charge the battery at? Are there 2 terminals somewhere or do I need to take the battery out?
Typical for this to happen on the one sunny day of the year so far

Flat batteries = Friday the 13th!? (seriously not asking for answers on this one!)
Good luck with your's George......
Typical isn't it!Good luck with your's George......
Cheers, have you got yours sorted now?
I've found a positive terminal under the bonnet, does anyone know where the negative one is? I must have been looking a good 15 mins and I'm sure there isn't one. I think I'm going mad.
manual suggests the alternator mounting bracket for the negative. But before you will get anywhere you need to press the battery reset button under the drivers side rear seat bolster. The system trips out the battery before it gets totally flat.
enter using the key and note if the window drops when you open the door. sort the reset button, then jump/charge the battery. Be very careful closing the doors again if the window hasn't dipped down a tad. If it hasn't you will need to do the reset on that also.

Forgive my incompetence, but what does the alternator bracket look like? I was just reading the manual and it shows a picture of the positive terminal, but not where it suggests to put the negative one.enter using the key and note if the window drops when you open the door. sort the reset button, then jump/charge the battery. The windows didn't drop at all, and due to my immense stupidity I opened the drivers door, the realised the bonnet release was at the passenger side, so opened that too. Now I can't close them, so the car is parked on the drive with both doors and the bonnet open.
from memory, as I don't have mine anymore, the alternator is on the drivers side half way down. You'll see copper coloured wires, wound tightly, through the alternator ventilation slits. You'll have fairly solid looking mounting brackets conecting the alternator to the engine block. Through the barckets I recall you can see the mounting bolts. Try to clip onto one of these if poss. Or as said by an other any bolt which joins onto the chassis ie suspension mounting bolts. It doesn't really matter where you clip the negative so long as it is earthed properly.
Remember to do the battery reset switch or all your efforts will be in vain as the battery will effectively switched "off" and isolated from your efforts!
Once you get a charge going into the battery, either by jump leads or battery charger you can do the window reset allowing you to close the doors.

Oh fk this. I've just rung Aston assistance and they will be out within the hour. I'm so ashamed I had to ring for help with a flat battery. Why don't they just give you a bd negative terminal, would make it so much easier for the incompetent!
Oh and yes Neil, that is too cruel!
Jockman, when you post asking for help because your battery died, I'll be the first one to come laughing

seriously, an aerospace engineer and you have to ring AM assistance for a flat battery. What are you an aerospace engineer for Dan Dare? you should be ashamed of youself!
I design bits, I don't do the hands on stuff! And yes, I'm massively ashamed, admitting defeat isn't something I usually do easy, but I was getting seriously pissed off with it!

Georgeous, me old mate, I'm just bracing you for the reaction of the guy from the AA when he arrives. FFS don't tell him what you do or he'll never fly again. You are so lucky that you keep the Manual outside the glovebox (same as me) otherwise you wouldn't have known where to start...Not that you did anyway !!
Bit concerned about the frozen interior....your volante closing properly ??
Hope this isn't your way of getting out of our razz at Easter
