Trusty old P11 primera is up to 94,000 miles on original clutch and got me thinking about the life of a clutch.

So whats everyone managed to get high or low out of their clutch in cars gone by?

My wife's Galaxy is on the original clutch (and DMF!) at 172,000 miles.

24k out of the wife's (formerly owned by my mum) Peugeot 107. Could have done with replacing 5k miles before in all honesty, really high bite point and slipped when driving briskly. I have worked for Peugeot though and that's not too uncommon for the mileage.

2006 SAAB is stil on original DMF & clutch at 82500. It'll need doing this year, due to DMF more than clutch.

Lowest: MG ZR 1400cc. Clutch and cambelt were both fked at 30k. and 60k. and 90k. Probably due to it being thrashed 24/7

Volvo C70 somehow made it to 170k on original clutch yikes as far as we could tell. (bought with 130k and no mention of clutch in paperwork)

The other half's Nissan Micra is 13 years old and on 85K on the original clutch, and she learnt to drive in it.

Had an Almera on 107000 with no clutch issues and AFAIK the original clutch. Gearbox bearings were dodgy though...

Just over 200k in a Mk2 Golf. I asked the garage to check it when they took it out and they were pretty certain it was the original.

I'd put 100k onto it and there was no indication in the service record that it had been done before that.

Bought a Primera GT that had 70,000 miles on it in 2004, it's now done 212,000 and still on the same clutch.

I had a smart roadster which is semi auto but it still has a clutch but no pedal and people on the forums were saying that they needed a new clutch at around 30,000 miles, but it is a known issue with smart cars
My Audi A4 needed a new clutch at 51,000 but it was 16years old at the time and it wasn't slipping it just got to the point that I had trouble engaging 1st 2nd and reverse.
But I have had cars before that have done 150,000 plus and still been on the original clutch.

i win. I once held the record for the earliest clutch change/warranty claim in the UK on an S14 200SX.

It was about a year old at the time and had covered less than 10k miles. About 8k of them were stop start London miles, though, in my slog from Ladbroke Grove to a soulless business park near Heathrow and back. Every day of the week. Thing is, it bogged down horribly off the line unless you gave it some abuse.

The clutch wasn't worn out but it had been overheated and had enough of a judder to worry Mark Kass Nissan whoi proceeded to change it.

I also got through the first six Yokohamas very quickly and the fleet manager banned me from ever buying them again. Made me put some horrible high mileage Michelin things on instead which were grim.

After that I opted out of the company car scheme and bought my own S14. On went an HKS cat-back zorst and HKS induction kit (which sorted the bogging down at low revs) plus a set of very sticky Toyo Proxes.

I sold my old mondeo at 189k on the original clutch. It spent almost its entire life at 70mph on motorways.

I've never changed a clutch in any car that I've owned (he says, not wishing to tempt fate).

My 1.4 Civic had over 120,000 miles on it's original clutch and the Civic Type-R that followed had over 100,000. When you see the way that some people drive though, I'm not surprised to hear of clutches lasting only 30-40,000.

The current 350z is on 65,000 and still going strong. And long may it continue.

Crashed my old octavia and wrote it off at 177k. I got it with full history and no evidence of a change, so assuming it was the original. Surprising with the rep of the DMF on the car.

It would surely depend on the type of driving and how the clutch is treated. However, in over 8 years of driving I've never had any clutch issues.
