Dilemma - knacker Pug 406

I know it's not what you would consider an awesome car but my beloved, hard working 406 has blown a gasket. It's therefore time to sell it/scrap it

It's done 104k miles on a 2 litre Petrol engine and no-one is really interested in PX as I'm not spending much on it's replacement. going to buy a Clio 172 I think.

How much do you reckon it's worth as scrap against sale?

a dealer would probably give you £150

i've seen dealers offer people £400 for a 2004 Rover 25 mint

I'd imagine most of them would just scrap your Pug and get their money back rather than spend time/money fixing it to sell it for not much more.

Most money you can make is from breaking it, sadly.

If there's nothing otherwise wrong and you like the car it could be worth spending the money.

At least you know this car, any other you could be buying into all sorts of problems.

It's the cylinder head that's cracked and needs some other work. It will be in the region of £900 to get everything sorted and the car is only worth that in tip top condition. I thought about just getting it done but, if something else were to go wrong with it then it would be a waste of money.

Looks like it's time to change. Would like to avoid scrapping it though

I sold a XR2 which had 1 day left on its MOT expired tax - burning half of the UAE's oil for every 10mile drive for £250.00 within 12 hours of listing it.
Which i realised was too cheap and could have achieved alot more!

Im sure you would get near on £400 on ebay for the 406.

You might be lucky enough to find a dealer who's offering a £1k minimum PX, one of my local dealers (Official Ford) does £1k min against any car over £3k!
It's not any use if the dealer doesn't have anything you want though!

Well the old girl is being scraped

On a plus I found a mint classic Impreza Turbo wagon with full Subaru history, 69k on the clock, full test and 4 months tax for £2850. Bought and the smile is back....still feel bad for my poor old Pug though.
