I'm trying to work out if I need to buy new glasses because me and another poster on here can't agree if these two cars look similar or not.
I've deliberately not mentioned my opinion in this OP, so would appreciate the other guy doing the same until the thread has a few votes on it.
Cheers

If you were really going to make this point then at least use the current A8 because it looks a lot more like the A4.
In any case it's very easy to tell which is the A8 and which isn't.
Just like not being able to tell current Aston Martins apart, it's a joke/observation that's been done to death

Yawwwnn...another Audi knocking thread to follow.
I'm not knocking either car - lets get that clear. I just wanted a concensus of opinion on whether the exterior looks similar or not, with no suggestion of whether that would or wouldn't be a good or bad thing!Think of it as an eye test rather than a judegment on the cars.

can I tell the difference? Very easily.
That wasn't the question either - OF course you can tell the difference, one is considerably larger than the other and there's several different stying details which clearly set the appart as different models of car.The question is whether they look "similar" or not.

Read the OP - there's no agenda - just an "eye test" because me and this other guy disagreed and I want to know know whether I'm wrong or right. In any case it's very easy to tell which is the A8 and which isn't.

Can easily tell the difference IMO, but yes they do look similar, like most cars would if built by the same manufacturer during the same era.

Can we have a 3rd option, for "Looks more like a Passat"?
Are you still living in the 90s and think the A4/ A8 are related to the Passat?F1GTRUeno said:
Except in the other thread you said it looks too much like an A4 so there is very clearly an agenda.
At least reflect accurately what I said about the A8:mrmr96 said:
Looks like an A4 from the outside.
That's my main gripe with these - they are prestige, but don't look it.
I wouldn't call that an agenda, it's just my personal opinion, which I didn't mention on this thread until you just brought it up.

I thought the A4 was a Golf, and the A6 was a Passat? deeen said:

Anyway no, first quick glance at that pic on the other thread I thought it was a Passat, didn't fit the context so I looked closer and realized my mistake.

Just to check that we are only referring to photos yes? There have been times when i have viewed pics of my own car an A6 Avant variant and thought it had similar proportions to its A4 sibling. Note, not size, as size perception can alter from photos, hence the confusion?
Yup, proportions not size really.va1o said:
How long before this turns into another Audi bashing thread?
Here's a statistic, last year after Ford, Vauxhall, VW and BMW, Audi where the 5th biggest selling brand in the UK for new car sales.
