This and just to throw my opinion in. I would take the 996T and give it a couple of years then chop it in for a GTR as I expect the prices will be about the same by then.

I know I have to drive both. You're quite right.

Just after some opinions at this stage though. I accept Il suffer depreciation on the GTR, and I'd estimate probably @£10k over two years.

The 996T though I'd expect to be bombproof in comparison, hence only being prepared to spend up to £29k on one. I just cant see more than @£4k drop in value over two years.

However, this is a real indulgence for me. So, I am trying to put fiscal responsibility to one side!!!!

And purely go for enjoyment.
a petrol head worrying about money....

This thread could get long...

I own one of these cars and test drove the other for well over an hour with a view to buying.

My opinion? Depends what you want in a car... Both amazing but for very different reasons. I could elaborate more but (a) I'm tapping this on my phone and (b) I will not start WW3.

Test them both and you'll not be disappointed.

They guy who owned my 996 Turbo before me bought a GTR. He's now thinking of going back to the 996 Turbo, possibly 997 Turbo. I can't imagine trading my 996 Turbo in for a GTR myself. Best all-round car I've ever had. smile

I do not own either, nor have I driven either. But people always say the GTR feels more planted, I just think that maybe it's so good at holding the road that it won't be as fun? For that reason I'm going to make an assumption that the Porsche might feel a bit more alive with less electronics keeping it on the road. I'd have the Porsche.
