I am in a position to finally afford a MY10 Nissan GTR. It's a good HP deal over 4 years. Now I do not want to debate about performance of the two cars but rather value for purchasing.

The GTR is low mileage and recently serviced and it's my dream car. However, I was told that it still has the 6000 miles or 6 months service intervals where I would've thought the MY10 models have 10,000 miles or 1 year interval? Perhaps someone in the know could clarify.

Anyway, for a bit less I can actually also get a 2010 Manual TTRS (or around the same price if I go for the STronic). I currently own a TTS if that helps. I do love the TTRS but I would feel it's not such a big leap/difference from the GTR. The big plus of TTRS is it's very much more affordable to maintain and run and also the AUDI dealership network is argubly better and is closer to me than a HPC...

What would a PHer do in my situation? Go for GTR or TTRS?

Even if the TTRS has a much lower maintenance and yet have an amazing performance?

Also better dealership support etc?

edit: I am not trying to slag of any of the cars btw, as I've mention this is more about a value of purchase rather than an argument about performance :P I am perfectly happy with performance of both cars but I would like to evaluate other factors such as cost of ownership, dealer support, hire purchase value for both etc etc

Yup, even considering all that. The GTR is a car I hope to own in the next 5 years. The only thing I like about the TT is the engine.

Another vote for the GTR.

Note: Not driven either so purely an armchair perspective!

TTRS is a weapon and even more so with a stage 1 410bhp chip, and the noise is to die for

Datsun is on a different plant to just about anything else under 100k but expect big bills

it comes down to how fast you want to go, stupidly fast or ludicrous speed

It may be purely my perception but the GTR is in an entire different league IMO.

And I'm curious as to how you've got to a shortlist of those two. There's a selection of other cars I'd choose over either of them.

I do wish people would stop calling anything by Nissan a Datsun. Just makes you sound like a plum.

The 2011 GTR service intervals changed to yearly, not sure what the mileage limit is."2008,09,10 cars need 6 months or 6k miles.

Not trying to be funny, but if it's all about the money and value side as the important factors for you, then I think you're kind of missing the point of owning something like a GT-R. Surely you buy a GT-R because it's a GT-R! The Audi I'm sure is a fine and capable car, but it's a completely different type of vehicle and ownership prospects.

+1

The last time a new car was a Datsun, the USSR still existed, and Austin-Rover were making Maestros and Rover 213's. A very long time ago.

And a bit like you do now!

I agree that the GTR is the only way, and if that is what you want, do it. They are both going to depreciate at around the same rate, but the increase in the GTR price in the last 18 months will have stabilised depreciation, and there is far more hype about the GTR no matter how good the TTRS is.

hmm not so sure, i have driven both (i was on the original order list for the GTR) there similar concepts, bonkers engines, 4wd, 2 seater coupes, wet clutch DSG, the TT is A* the Datsun tongue out is A+++

both cars are stupidly fast for a road car, the GTR is just turned all the way to 11, if you drive either of them at 100% on the roads your looking at jail time, no doubts the GTR is way faster unless you stage 1 the TT, but then you could stage 1 the GTR

how fast do you want to go

If I had the money I'd be going for something like a Cayman R but then it looks like you want a car thats fking fast above all else. If thats the case it has to be a GTR. Seems odd that you put the dealer network as rather important. I wouldn't rank audi dealers as anything special and I guess the GTR is better served by specialists.
997 Turbos are in the 40K bracket now.

Out and about now so will post in more detail when I get home wink

Thanks for te replies though ! Deal I am getting is for this week only so hopefully I could get more opinion. I was under the impression that 2010 cars have the yearly interval too but I was wrong frown. Anywhere I can get comprehensive information about the GTR? Google isn't too helpful.

I am looking for AWD coupes so I guess there's not much choices out there smile

GTR easily out of those do. You did mention value of purchasing. As you are buying a relatively new car over 4 years on finance both will be very heavy on overall cost - is there a reason why you have ended up with these two and not some more older cars that are a safer bet?

GTR is obviously the better car, but as has been said, they are leagues apart. So, the question is merely cost, and servicing. Can you afford the GTR costs? If so, go for it. If not, the TTRS will be better, (and a very nice car to boot).
