Fuel pump and filter

I am in the middle of an underside refurb and have been looking at the fuel system. Is it correct that fuel comes from the tank into the pump then onto the filter then engine. Should the filter not be before the pump to protect it? Or am I missing a filter before the pump that I cannot see.

Your 1st line is correct tank-pump-filter-engine although there may be a strainer inside the tank for the pre-pump outlet
