taimar calipers
Discussion
Can anybody help??
Took the pistons.. or atleast tried, out of my calipers to find they're corroded half way down the piston...
So lookin at replacing the complete units for new and have one question... on rimmer brothers there's 3 options. imperial 16p, imperial 16pb or m16p.
I believe mine would be the 16p imperial not metric. but what is the difference between the two imperial?? I can't give my model number as its that badly pitted/rusted i can't make them out

I personally wouldn't waste your time trying to fix then. Just send them in a box to the following place who will send you some lovely fully refurbished ones back for not much money!!

The 16PB Caliper is essentially a TR4-6 caliper but mid someyear the thread unions changed from imperial to metric. I believe around 74 / 75 Send your old calipers to lee at above and he will match them and send you the same type, or even your originals back.

IMHO new calipers, and ANY GOOD ....are the wrong calipers.

I bow to your years of experience and far greater knowledge of all things TVR Adrian but whats wrong with them? Adrian@
I bought the correct pads and locating pins to go with them and my flexi pipes are imperial thread.
Mike the OP has a Taimar as is not as was (I rather presume) and Flexi pipes are indeed imperial ...but a standard car has jumps pipes which are female imperial-male metric and the mounting holes that are the larger size. Taimars run the larger shank bolt and 3/4 head AND they are too expensive...I wish I could sell my calipers at that price!
