Hi

Loads of peeps have recommended Annecy for a stay and, upon researching it, I can see why. smile

There appear to be tons of central hotels however not all seem to have car parking.

We need a central hotel with car parking - does anyone have any experiences that they can share/recommend?

I have found a Novotel which is central with parking but it would be nice to have something less 'chain/corporate'... IYKWIM!

cheers smile

Hi Graham.
I replied to your thread 1st time around with some trip info for you - hope it was useful. I mentioned Annecy then and by coincidence we stayed at the Novotel when we went. (I assume you mean this one - http://www.accorhotels.com/gb/hotel-1357-novotel-a... )
Yes, it's a bit 'corporatey', but you know what you're going to get and it was in a great location - 5 to 10 mins walk from the old town (and had secure parking). If you do stay there, then try and get a room on a higher floor away from far end of the hotel as the hotel is right above the train line/ station and on the lower floors you can hear the trains through the floor.
Hope your planning is going well.
Jon

We stayed here: http://www.hoteldesmarquisats.com/index_gb.html

Clean, not luxury, but comfortable enough, with friendly owners, in a quiet culd de sac. A ten minute walk to the old town. Safe outdoor parking.

Hi both wavey

Yes Jon I picked up on your recommendation - cheers for that thumbup - I just want to widen my search

Jo - the website says your recommendation is 20 mins away from the old town. My wife has some mobility issues with her MS so 20 mins is pushing it. How far are restaurants/bars in terms of walking?

Cheers both smile

I remember it being about ten minutes, but I could be erring on the optimistic side. I think they say 20 minutes for the US market to avoid any moans on tripadvisor. So, maybe 15 minutes is more realistic. It's a gentle slope down to the lake - 300 yds or so, then completely flat.
