Heater controls
Discussion
Just bought a 1993 griff 5.0
i just cant work out the heater controls.
the manual i have from new does not even list the controls i have !!! it shows the early controls that look like window buttons on their side.
the control panel has four control knobs.
I can work out that the upper right control is for the motor on/off and speed but wtf do the rest do?

can u just tell me is it left for cold right for hot on temp control, sweatin abit yesterday.
Think you'll find it's anti-clockwise for hot and clockwise for bloody hot
If you mail me a fax number I can fax a copy of the instructions from mine over tomorrow. There is a 6 page photocopied addition to my manual for Griffith 500 which includes the fuse layouts too.
Here are a copy of pages 2 and 3

I know many say about the hot and very hot, you can get it right(ish). The valve has to be set up and is known to "creep" as you drive(and or cabin temp), i spent a lot of time doing various things with other mods, this one i have to press the knob in before adjusting the temp, that way it can not "creep"!
Best thing is to forget about it. It does not work. Even worse how TVR made it,it just can not work. I tried all.No use. When it is hot just open a window or take of the roof. Best thing to do. Greetings from
Amsterdam. Good thing you live in England and not in Spain or Italy or so. If you do not believe my words, lots of succes trying to solve it. bye!!

Might be worth checking to see if you have a second fan unit fitted. I have one that is controlled by a 3-position switch under the dash to the right of the steering wheel. This blows cool air over the driver from the right hand vent.
Unfortunatly the passengers have to sweat, in my experience most passengers sweat in the car anyway, more so in the winter when the roads are slippy

raw,
i have a second blower switch as you have said and i have noticed it only blows through the one vent.
i also have an adjustable fresh air vent that looks like an escort mk2 dash vent near my feet
ON my griff it seems to be hot all the time, as i went out for a blast tonight i switched it left first it was hot and 5 miles later swiched it right, i did hold the switch down for about 10 seconds, this was then hotter, to hot for me, think i shall take the valve out sat and give it a clean and test it on a transformer and re set the cable, ill let you know how i get on..............

Like David says the Griff temperature control can be set to work, well mine does! Even down in Le Mans this year (34 dec C) I had cold'ish air blowing out of the vents. You need to ensure that the valve up under the glove box is set with the white marks properly lined up when the control knob is fully set to cold. Often the grub screw which holds the servo on it's spindle loosens and the setting slips. Rich...

Took the heater control out (the one in the footwell)
and replaced it with a pice of solid bar (temporary of corse) and went for a spin was a lot better however after a jolly good old thrash the cabin temprature got a bit hot, my assumption now is to lagg the exhaust manifolds and replace the 2 heat shields with new ones as it must get incredibly hot under the hood and heat rises and all that!! i will let you know how i get on over the weekend.
