That is a cheap and good way to get into 911 ownership.

A 996 engine that's been Harteched is as good as it gets from what I understand.

Enjoy.

Looks good. smile

You've got to wonder what price Portiacraft picked this up at to be able to get Hartech to sort the engine and still make money on an advertised price of £16,995!

You're assuming they made money! Could have been a loss leader; look at the publicity it has got them already! Or maybe they only discovered the engine problem after purchase and were forced in to a costly repair and sale at a loss? Maybe we should be told? ears

True, but if as they stated they bought it knowing it needed the work then you'd assume (rightly or wrongly) that there was the usual sucking of teeth and it was below £10k.

Unusual wheels? But they look great to me. Well done OP, hope you enjoy the car. Just as a little extra useless info - my mum grew up in the flat above Portiacraft during and after the war!

It says that the engine was 'rebuilt' due to being tappety. What has been done?

Has it had the support sleeves and redesigned IMS fitted?

They were the standard 17" rims on a 996 so with the extra inch on the side walls will make it very comfy.... smile

Welcome to Pork ownership. Looks like a good buy.

Not quite as quick as a Blade but at least you get to keep warm and dry when the weather's bad.

Thanks for the good wishes, folks. I had been mulling over getting a 996 for a while but the stories of self-destruction were putting me off. Stories about warranty companies worming out of claims were putting me off that too. I'd read about Hartech's rebuilds and when I saw this advertised I went for it. I've no idea what Hartech did to it. The sales guy said "it had all six cylinders done". I'm fairly confident that Hartech wouldn't have screwed it back together with iffy bits inside. Regarding what they paid - well it was a high mileage Targa with a knackered engine I recon it cost them two packets of Polos and a Mars Bar.

Cheers, Nick

hehe That is top lurking indeed - getting on for 7 years!

I'm sure Hartech will have done the job properly and Portiacraft too. Enjoy driving

Hi Goose

"That is top lurking indeed - getting on for 7 years!"

How does one see old posts? I'm curious what I wrote - I have no recollection of posting here before.

I think that's why Goose was getting at...you have been lurking for 7 odd years without posting!

Congrats on the car...did you verify with Hartech that they did see the car?

Oh. Yes. I see the number of posts is displayed.

No I didn't check with Hartech but I will be getting a copy of the invoice when i pick the car up. Also, Portiacraft say the motor has a two year warranty from Hartech - very risky for them if they're bluffing!

No I'm sure they're not bluffing. At least from invoice you will know what work was done. And the Hartech waraanty on the engine is a great thing to have.

Once again congrats!

Engine will be fine if Hartech did it so good value.

What made you buy a tip after the Fireblade?

Welcome Nick,

Nice car. The only thing that worries me about 996s is that engine and you've got it covered, so nice one.
Enjoy your car. smile
