I'm trying to find out as much as possible about building and owning Hawk HF Stratos replicas. Apart from Hawk's own site there appears to be next to nothing on the web. The club and forum websites all seem to be dead. I was hoping to find some build diaries and info from owners/builders. Does anyone know where to look for info?

I own a Hawk HF.Follow the link to the new forum given above by 'x19.driver'.
The old forum was not established by the Stratos Enthusiasts Club, has now gone, along with so much useful information.
Just ask away...

Thanks, have signed up. I had been searching for the Stratos Supersite and Stratclub, which all seem to be no more.ChrisJ. said:

I think I'll need to stump up some cash to view any of the build threads, but I'll certainly be having a good trawl through the open forums from the off.Follow the link to the new forum given above by 'x19.driver'.

I'm only in the early stages of considering whether a kit is what I really want. I'm trying my best not to waste peoples time with lame questions that have been asked a thousand times before. Hence why I'm looking for existing sources of info.
Maybe you could briefly some up your Hawk experience by saying what three things you wish you had known before you started building.
The red Hawk really caught my eye on display at the NEC Classic show in November, then I saw the stunning Alitalia car at Autosport on Saturday. I think the only other kit that could compete for my attention would be a GD T70, but I believe they are a substantial step up in cost so I've crossed it off the list.

ask bilb... he has one and seems obsessed.
Looks quite good as I saw it at a car show once.
I thought blib had a tr7.Looks quite good as I saw it at a car show once.

Anyhow, OP. The original forum closed recently and we've moved over to the one linked to in an earlier post. I didn't build my car. So, I won't comment on your question.

I've had three and a half Hawk Stratos so far, but I've only done part builds. It's the usual thing with this type of kit. It just takes such a long time to put together.
The new Lister Bell STR won't take as long to build, I'm sure. 'Having said that, as far as I know, there aren't any STRs finished yet.
You'd get wet in a T70 spyder, and the GD car isn't to the same dimensions as an original. The Stratos replicas are moulded off original cars.
The build time would not be an issue I don't think, in fact I would like it to last a fair amount of time and be pretty involving. I'm was an Engineer and my Dad is a tool maker of 50 years, so a bit of a challenge would be welcome.
I had seen the Lister Bell, looks great but to me, the Hawk has a bit more authenticity to it in my eyes. Plus plenty of people have built Hawks, meaning there should be big pool of advice should I need it.
As for the GD, the lack weather protection had crossed my mind. I just find it a desirable car in it's own right, even if it is substantially different to the Lola. Would look great in Sunoco colours. Regardless, I think the Hawk appeals more.

The GD could be built with a roof that they're offering for the same price as a Hawk, I went through build costs about 10times before deciding I couldn't afford to to either as I would have wanted to. On the upside I've now bought a 240z from Arizona to tinker with, 998kg wet from the factory...

the GD t70 isnt that far off the original dimensions and uses the heritage body moulds if i remember. It's the usual thing with this type of kit. It just takes such a long time to put together.

the chassis is spaceframed as compared to the original tub type chassis thats the main difference.
OP- drop me a pm if need be about GD build costs

It's GD, so I'm sure it's a quality product.I'm guessing it just wouldn't be viable to make it full size/width replica?
There is over two decades of build knowledge now on Transformer/Hawk and other Stratos replicas.
Some are built with a lot of attention to detail and build quality. Here's a recent photo of one that was first built way back in the 1980s, and by the way, it's NOT the car that was driven on Top Gear's track.
