I am quite excited to see how he gets on, I've enjoyed his BTCC commentary for a few years and whilst its the BTCCs loss its certainly a gain for the BBC. I just hope DC and him get along smoothly as last year you certainly had the feeling with the commentary it was two well informed mates chatting about the racing.

I wouldn't, Watson was disappointing on the A1GP coverage. Missed action and seemed to lay into drivers for no reason.

He is getting on abit I suppose but his voice has a sense of authority and gravitas, bags of experience and knowledge to boot.

I like him as a commentator.

Did they not do some of the FIA GT1 commentary over the last 2 years

They used to do the F1 commentary together for Eurosport in the 90s, I often found myself watching their coverage rather than Murray on the Beeb. Plus they showed the whole weekend IIRC, unlike the BBC just showing the race - certainly remember watching the Sunday morning warmup, always used to enjoy that being on while having breakfast!

That was quite a while ago though, at that point Edwards was only fairly recently out of racing himself, he's a lot more experienced now and should do a great job IMO.

Suits me,hate him doing the moto gp bikes,every time they "cross the stripe" i wince.
