Shaken or stirred

I've developed a penchant for dry vodka Martini, over the Christmas and new year period. One of the places I go shake them, another one stirs them, unless I specifically ask them to shake it. I actually prefer the stirred version. Is that wrong of me?

You souldn't feel dirty. Stirring is the correct way. James Bond is wrong, you can look it up if you like.

I'm a cocktail bar man.

The reason you stir and not shake is that shaking breaks off tiny bits of ice that dilute the drink and dull the flavour,

by stirring you simply chill the fluid with the ice then get rid of it.

if you really like capers (like i do) then a Caperberry Vesper is a damn good martini.
