At present I'm rebuilding my grif, reading every posting, gaining knowledge, enjoying (at a distance) some of the pitfalls of owning and driving a TVR.
But it's begining to hurt, there are 2 postings describing new owners older64, gingerprince and their subsequent smiles from ear to ear. Accounts of spending £50 in petrol on a cruise etc etc, trips to pistonfeast, LeMans etc - I've had mine close to 2 years and driven it 'round the block twice!
But there's light at the end of the tunnel - it's going to the trimmers tomorrow for carpets and a roof (I'll post pics if I can work out how to) - then it's a new windscreen, wipers and lights and a trip to the MOT man - still on schedule for August 2004.

hope it all comes together soon, i too read all the posts and have been doing so for about 6 months, this forum persuaded me not to go the nissan skyline route and trust in the British Brute.
people on this forum are willing to help and that counts or a lot.
i would like to see some pics of your restoration, i would take up the offer from ballistic!
i wish it was 50 quid in petrol its been nearly 200 since i picked it up on friday but i have done nearly 600 miles and every one a memory, from the disapproving grannies to the awestruck little boys.

Thats why it costs so much in petrol.

I need to restrict myself to Hampshire for a while I think. I guess Im just enjoying driving it but I seem to take it everywere. Had my first 6000 service already and it feels even better for it.

I've suffered about 1/4 of your agony! I bought a 'road-worthy' MOT'd 4.3 back in september, coaxed it home (127 miles) and then spent 5 months doing the chassis and engine electrics overhaul + other bits and bobs, growing more and more weary and wondering whether it was worth the pain and suffering. Another 2 weeks to-ing and fro-ing the MOT station saw me get a ticket and since then all symptoms of frustration/depression have passed. It's the best medicine in the world!
I'd be interested to know how much roof you're having retrimmed and a ball park figure?

That was a pleasant surprise, I've had a busy day today and couldn't log on to the forum from the office. Words of encouragement are greatly appreciated, BB thanks!! I'll be sending you something digital soon.
Now then I better stop digging myself a great big hole, the finished job will be fuctional not concours as that can come later - Functional means 'TVR Grin' quicker. Another bit of goodnews, Racing Green rang today and they have the elusive N/S clear lense YIPEEE no more hold-ups.
