So I was trundling round the ASI show this week and someone mentioned these lights

https://www.europaspares.com/product/3/18602/LIGHT...

I think they practically do everything you need.

So my question is does anyone actually have them/used them/seen them?
And the advert says there's a HID version?! How on earth would that work?

They look interesting.

Indeed - how would the HID work. Not legally probably. Have to say, getting incerasingly p155ed off with dodgy aftermarket HID conversions on cars that aren't suited to them. Lousy beam patterns, really dazzling.

Likewise, I was wondering if they'd found a way to build washers and self levelling into the units.

Personally I want a set of the Halogens as they're clearly ideal for the kit car I'm building, small and hopefully give a good output. and combining functions is good too.

This... and the fact they are BLUE! WTF? I presume they bought a retrofitted HID kit because they wanted to look cool like real xenons do but then buy the bulbs at a colour temperature THAT LOOKS NOTHING LIKE XENONS!

Anyway, I'm surprised no one has built a unit that integrates auto levelling (and whilst you're at it, 'optional' ability to move left and right like those headlights that look round corners). I can understand that integrating washers might be a little difficult but if you just made provisions for nozzles that you could 'splice' into your windscreen washers and connect up I wonder if that would be enough to be road legal?

For IVA (and probably any other road legality) just having leveling and washers is not enough...they have to be EC approved and marked.

We have fitted these to one of our SDR V Storms. They are not HID, they have a 55w H1 halogen bulb, with a solenoid operated mask for dip/main. Can't recommend them enough, simple to fit, and work well. The plastic adjusting ring at the bottom is a bit flimsy and cracks easily, but we replaced it with a short length of metal tube.

Thank you Steve! I figured there would be something along these lines.

Are you actually an IVA tester? I've noticed your posts on the Ultima forum and you are very knowledgeable about it all if you aren't!

Any chance of some photos of them operating? Or a "night shot" as I'd like to know if they're at all effective in the dark.

Thanks chap

Follow the link in my profile. We are a kitcar manufacturer and work on many other performance cars. As a result we get painfully involved in the IVA manual. Having said that we are supporters of IVA as we firmly believe it, and SVA before it, have made a significant improvement to the industry by weeding out poorly built and poorly designed cars.

Speaking purely as someone who built a kit and had it through SVA, I totally agree with what Steve is saying. Some aspects of the test verge on nit-picking, but overall, the benefits are well worth it IMO and can do nothing but good overall.
