Wow, Amazing weekend all in all. There were highs and there were lows... Fortunately the lows were all on the run up and during the setup it went uphill from there! So please be patient and enjoy this little overview of my weekend...

Thursday night : Cold/Tired and hungry...

Arrive to try and set up marquee - struggled until around midnight and finally got it up. Went home knackered and cold.

Friday Morning : Stress x10

Get a call to say my marquee is in pieces
Get over to Stratford, attempt assembly of second marquee by gaffer taping every joint together - structure SOLID! Attempt to put cover on and it's litterally torn from our hands.
The guys from the PR Photography tour ran over and helped me desperately try to sort it out, but it was just no good. Thanks for your help guys.

Marquee #2 now in pieces. Here are the remains of marquee 1/2 courtesy of Buster (Hope you don't mind)

Panic, panic, panic was the order of the day, but with lots of help from Ted and Pistonfest another Marquee was sourced so the show could go on!! (I had a third one but decided I'll take it back instead!)

Friday afternoon/Evening : Relax

Now it starts, safe in the knowledge that nothing else could go wrong I decided to have a drink with my mate and then it began...

M@H, the amazing camping magnet , wandered over and we started chatting away about different things, least of all his influence on the camping scene that was growing up around us....but I'm sure he'll explain more

Next up was a chap parked a few tents up from us and I missed your name, but I know he was telling us about the fast road cams he had in his TVR - again, nice chap and now I was beginning to de-stress...

Next door but one on the Tent Row, was Dangermouse and Venom, great conversation we had about everything from going out with your mates sister to people dying during house purchases and nutters driving into your living room.....

Friday Night : Rated

Hmmm, I've been stressing for about the last 6 months about starting up my new business and PF was the date I had scheduled in as the point at which I could finally not think about it and let my hair down...

In the bar, sank more drink than I have done in a long while... Had some drunk fumblings with pwig's PHONE, and nothing else I hasten to add. Others take note.

Dangermouse and Venom were in good swing supping down whatever I could throw at them.

Shadytree, the only man I know who you can tell is pissed, but still seems to talk complete sense! I'm sure while he was having a very enlightened conversation with me, I may have been blubbering on about inflateable hamsters or something... God knows...

I stepped out and on the way out Mr's Fish stepped back and tripped me up nearly sending me into a speaker! I stopped, introduced myself and congratulated her on the Wedding etc, only to find that by Sunday she'd forgotten the whole thing...

There was a huge queue for the toilets and as I mentioned this was the incident with accidentally urinating on someone. Again, apologies.

Got the camera and returned to the party!!

Someone pointed out Carzee to me who was sat down, but I never got a chance to say hi! I spoke to Schnozz, but I have no idea what I said.

BCA - Top bloke too, we chewed the fat on loads of things and generally drank ourselves silly!

Rico, what can I say, whatever they guy wanted to drink the rule was "add another measure" and so it went on...."ooooh, thats gonna hurt in the morning!"

dontlift - READ THIS BIT IF NOTHING ELSE!! Dontlift(Pat) who was displaying and running www.toolsnstuff.co.uk|www.toolsnstuff.co.uk was an incredible steadying post for me over the weekend, when things went wrong, he came over and offered advice. When I found out I'd left tools at home, he lent me his. When the batteries ran out on my electronic safe - he had a spare pack. We spent many hours discussing many things, without his help I would have packed up and gone home Friday. Thanks

Also spoke to several other people who's faces I remember but my memmory has gone.

Returned to shadytree who was definately tipsy, but still talking complete sense which worried me...

Finally dragged my mate back to the tent - had to walk him back.

Closed eye and slept.

Saturday : 7:30 am Shhhh!!....wimper...ouch...

Woke up and I felt like a thousand creatures of the night had be burnt ashes in my mouth, then doused with the bile of festering corpse. Not good, but the marquee was coming soon and in an hour, so were the models! Looked into my mates tent and there was a big pile of sick, I say mates tent, it was mine that I'd lent him.... Couldn;t do much else but photograph it!

2 anadin extra, eight pints of water and a can of Lynx later, and, well, pretty much the same really...

Models arrived after nearly getting so lost they ended up on the dragstrip.. Anyway, so there I am say with the girls outside my tent and no marquee.... the stree was returning, along with a few afterburps of lastnights triple southern comforts...

To cut a long story short got the marquee set up and the girls did their stuff.

Met loads of people on the Saturday including Mr Shinynuts himself - nice guy with a VERY nice product. Anyone who didn't see his nuts really should pick them up and have a feel - seriously, I was in ore at the quality.

Generally spoke to various people and I was handing out free vintage champagne on my stand but NOBODY had any!! I'm now drinking it....

Sunday : More People / Sent the models home .

A good day today, had one model roatation and got to pose with them on the Lambo....there were some thoghts and fantasies created there I can tell you.... but not for me of course, as Mrs Jconsta6 had turned up and may well also read this.

Scrapheap challange and the team we were sponsering, the PistonBabes, came in third!! What an effort and thanks for doing us proud Girls! Sorry I missed the presentation but things were getting abit hectic.

All was going well until we had an incident involving some people being verbally and physically abusive to the models, NOT PH'ers, I hasten to add. I decided to call it a day sent them home and started to pack up.

Drove home and fell into bed.... it's been a long weekend, but one in which I've made some friends. Likeminded folk who, however diverse a social or professional background may have, have the humanity and core values that make true Ph'er's what they are.

I can't thank everyone as EVERYONE I met was great. However I will just pharse it like this thanks to EVERYONE I met for the feedback and.....

I've never met a PH'er I didn't like.

Thanks

JC

Certainly remembered that well into saturday!!! Was great to see you and hope all goes well with the business. Then I started speaking to Dontlift - and the drinks kept being drank Unfotunately I remember every word he said - have been scanning the 944 classifieds ever since im broke already ffs Have to agree with you about him, although hes probably cost me alot of money!!

Methinks I'll be signing up when I get back from Italy in a few weeks time (havent even got a fiver atm, seriously scary!!)

Just a quick question about www.yourboot.co.uk - a few of the jobs up seem to pay more than it would cost a certain smart owner to fill up and drive over even if he/she wasnt planning to anyway - (ignoring the time it takes to do so/ potential earnings during that time) Err, whats the catch there??

For example, Coventry to Birmingham, two cases - £15, it takes about £5's worth of petrol to do that trip (inc driving over to cov in the first place) would only take an hour - and then thats £10 profit against petrol costs?? So £10 for an hour that I would probably otherwise spend on here???

If there is no catch, my names down as soon as I get back from italy!!

Nice to meet you, excellent bloke, brilliant concept.

oops!

BCA, no con, I'll mail you off list.

2 more who also need a special celebrity mention, who should have been on the mail :

Domster : Who was the kind of person you can bounce ideas off that other people just tell you to shut up about. Get the Marquee mate, and I'll get the Staff...

Furby : If there was a Victoria Cross for a PH'er he'd be in line for it, the past 2 weeks we've had shady rendevous in pubs, been chatting at 10:00 at night and he even drove all the way to PH at his own expense to get all my hats/tshirts/printed media/overalls etc up to me. Top bloke.

On a serious note, I've found that using PH memebers for different services has been an entirely worthwhile experience. The only service I went outside of PH for was the models, and that was only becasue PWIG turned me down....

Cheers,

JC
