You will be able to do it in a Post Office (or whatever) because they're the same test/certificate, but as for it showing up in the online system, God knows how long that takes even for a mainland car tested on the mainland!

Well I've tried to tax my bike online, found it's got no MOT, so whizzed it round to my mates garage, MOTd it, got home ten minutes later and taxed it straightaway if that helps smile

It does, actually, useful for future reference!

I'll ignore the fact that you didn't actually know your bike had no MOT hehe

Post office can be done straight away with the paper certificate.

Online can be done within 24 hours of the test being completed. Sometimes it does take a few hours for the system to update.

Due to residency address differences, and DVA not having online renewal set up, you're better off going in person to one of the local offices, if you're able.
Alternatively phone Coleraine office, and explain your predicament - someone may be able to do it on your behalf.
Tax disc dispensed there and then, so no having to organise postal redelivery from the Scotland address.
