Hi gents (are there any lumpy jumopers on this forum?),

This morning I drove from cold for 50 miles and all was fine. At one point on the motorway when I pressed the brake it was harder than usual and then fine. This happened again a few time over the last few miles of the journey. Brakes appear fine - just stiffer one time in, say, 10.

No ABS or traction lights came on

Traffic on that part of the M25 where it first happened slowed markedly so I think there’s a possibility it was very cold. A sort of microclimate if that makes sense?

Any view please?

Thanks.

Well it was pretty cold this morning, so feasible that they were freezing up on you. Time will tell if your problem self-heals or not.

I suspect you mean inefficient rather than "hard". No doubt the discs and pads were well chilled, in addition to having road salt (or whatever bovine urea your council happen to be using this winter to stop the road from freezing) deposited on them.

As with driving in heavy rain on the motorway, it's always good just to dab the brakes occasionally to remove the water/road salt to ensure your brakes work efficiently when you do need them.

Hi if its an early 996,there were issues with water entering the servo, causing pedal to go stiff and some times not releasing when removing foot from pedal, system has been modified.

Thank you for all your replies.

A trip to a specialist is in order then as it wasn't raining and it was happening again this afternoon...

Actually, it's a R-Reg and what you describe is exactly what happens. Would pumping the brakes be a temporary fix?

I guess there was ice but no surface water btw

Hi the servo pushrod seizes up,you might be able to pull the pedal back up with your foot.

If you mean bleeding the brakes, which I presume you do, then no it won't help with this issue.
