I went last week. To me it was just very good pub food! Which is exactly what it tries to be i guess! Although very much a restaurant atmosphere and setting, which i found a bit strange!
I went for the steak in the end which was pretty nice!!
For pudding you HAVE to try the old fashioned quaking pudding! Lovely!

Have been 4 or 5 times over the last couple of years.

I really like it, the service each time I have been has been excellent and the food amongst the best I have had.

I judge all other restaurants against the Hinds Head. Have to say it is much better than any of the Rick Stein places I have been to in Padstow.

I like it, but not as often as I used to. Like many foodie pubs, it's really not a pub any more, as food is the real focus of the place now. But there is still a little bar round the side where the locals go and you can just get a drink in. The menu is traditional "british pub" type fare with some interesting twists, and impeccable ingredients and attention to detail, set in a really nice old building.

But pretty expensive prices, so a £40 a head Sunday lunch is easily done, and steak & chips are getting on for £30 nowadays. You have to decide for yourself if you think that's good value!

I really do like the oxtail & kidney pudding though.

Had a meal there last year whilst having a "foody" break in Bray.
Would go back in a minute if I wasn't 600 miles away.
Good food,service and atmposphere.
Enjoy

Been a couple of times, not overly impressed. Hopefully you will enjoy it more than we did.

The missus booked it as a present for New Year's Day in 2010.

Service was slow, they mixed up the orders, we never got our side order of veg (despite asking twice), and when we gave them feedback following the "did you enjoy your meal" the response was "oh" and we were charged full price (even tried to charge for the veg we didn't get!).

For me, it was a case of never meet your heros. frown

I was interested to read this as I'm going to the Hind's Head tomorrow for my sister's 30th birthday.

Menu looks good, prices about where I expected them tbh (given the name above the door anyway).

I'll report back!
