"posh" pork scratchings
Discussion
That article is a bit of a grovelling hagiography before getting to the 'meat' of the matter.
"Mr Trotter’s Great British Pork Crackling is available at Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Booths supermarkets and The Anchor, Walberswick, Suffolk, £1.89 for 60g"

Do you think Nom-Nom or not Nom-Nom would count as a review?"Mr Trotter’s Great British Pork Crackling is available at Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Booths supermarkets and The Anchor, Walberswick, Suffolk, £1.89 for 60g"

bought a packet the other weekend from selfridges - not quite as greasy as your standard scratchings, nice flavour but there was still a few of those moist squigy bits you find in the other brands.
washed them down with a pint of 'raw' unpasteurised & unhomogenised milk they are also now selling in the foodhall there - now this I do recommend, my cocopops have never tasted so good!

Ha! Too late!
My sample pack arrived this morning and I'd scoffed half before managing to even photograph them:

Deafeningly crunchy and very tasty, you immediately think "beer". Luckily I had some in the house.
Perhaps this will be the product's success or downfall, since I can't imagine snacking occasions when I'd eat pork scratchings, other than in a pub with a pint.
Possibly the reason why scratchings have never taken off in the home snacking market in the same way as say, biltong. Also at 397 calories a bag and 53.1% fat, they're hardly a health product.
Nice though. If I saw them in a pub I'd definitely order them.

I can not resist them.
I always buy a bag on the pretence of sharing with the dog.
He isn't that interested in them.
Thanks for the heads up on these, I've got my free sample now - despite getting this for Xmas:
Next time MOH asks me what I want for Christmas and I get stuck (every year then) - I'm asking for THAT. Pork scratchings Mmmmm
I had some of these on Friday;

Not really what I would call pork scratchings, more like puffed pork - think polystyrene packing with some pork flavouring. I prefer the crunch and the soft, and yes, the hairs

On a related note, anyone ever had, something that is/was known in a local Butcher's as 'Pork Scraps', or indeed just 'Scraps'?
Smaller randomly shaped bits of cooked fat(?) not rind, ranging from half a pea to grape size (but not 'shaped' in any way, I guess just come out as they're cooked). They're probably a less healthy version of Scratchings if that's possible. Also, more addictive yet less tasty!

I've taken delivery of my two samples and must say they are the very best I've tried. There were two huge pieces in each pack with chunks of pork beneath the skin.
The seasoning mix is clever but for me needed slightly more salt.
Still, terribly unhealthy and something to enjoy once a flood.
