What two cars?
Discussion
Sorry for another what car(s) thread guys, but the old cerative juices aren't flowing as well as they usually do today so need some input from the pro's.
Currently got an '02 Bora and an '04 M3 Cab. The M3 is a weekend toy and the Bora does the ~80 mile per day commute and tips runs etc. The Bora has to be changed as I feel a substantial bill coming soon and the M3 doesn't have to go, but I've done 17 miles in it since before Christmas and it's not fair on it to just be sat there watching other cars being driven every day.
If I sell both and put a few notes towards it, I reckon we'll scrape £10k together all in all. The budget can be split between the 2 in any way, but the slogger has to be able to get me to work without worrying about a breakdown so, as much as it pains me to admit it, it's more of a priority than the toy.
Daily slogger - Think I'm pretty sold on a Skoda Superb for this, but:
- needs to be big and roomy, Diesel, pref automatic, nice and comfy, have/be able to have a towbar, good MPG plus all the other boring stuff that a commuter needs to have.
New toy - I honestly can't see me getting anything as special as the M3 for the budget, but anything goes with this. Only specifications are that it has to fit a 6'4" fatty in it (that's me, BTW) and it lives on a drive rather than in a garage so nothing leaky! Also, has to be of a build quality that it can go for a couple of weeks stood still and actually start afterwards!
Insurance isn't really an issue anymore given I'm pushing 30 (how old?!!) and mileage will be limited on the toy (M3 is insured for 5k miles p.a, gets nowhere near that). Would be good to get cheap tax on the slogger to offset the inevitable expensive tax on the 2nd car, but we're in a the ~£200 bracket per car at the moment anyway.
Any ideas?

Daily slogger - anything you like.
My weekend toy would have to be a convertible though. They don't all leak - the quality of hoods has gone up significantly over the last decade and a bit to the point where you can take them through car washs now if you felt the urge. The obvious ph answer is an MX5, maybe tweaked a bit, but I don't like their ubquitiousness and would be off looking at something like a boxster, S2000, elise S1, V6 Alfa spider.
