Contemplating a change from my M3 saloon and have been offerd a March build slot for an M5 which is still spec changeable.
I have been told that it is a cancelled order, but interested in what people have found for delivery times when you have ordered.
My dealer also has a nice demonstrator which has a discreet for sale sign on it (but it's not on AUC web-site). Nice colour combo and a bit higher specced than I would go for but the asking price is quite attractive.
I saw in a previous thread that people got a few K's off list price - is this what I should still expect or do I need to try harder?

my local dealers have cars available if you are not fussy on colour or spec. seems a combination of cancelled orders, cars coming too early and customers backing out or a couple of extra cars available from BMW UK stock.
What I suspected - I think there may be some deals to be had. My main concern is diving in, only to find pre-registered cars being sold later this year or early next spring at £20K off (which to be fair is how I bought my M3).
Hope the white one is not this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1L-RzE3ymas
I was quite suprised to find out from my dealer that the waiting list on the M5 is SHORTER than a 530d! A far cry from the days of a REALLY good M5 and a 2 year waiting list! Guess the short list is a reflection of the desireability of the newer M5 with little advancement over the V10, compared to the massive advancement between E39 m5 and the mighty E60

I think you will find its more to do with 'most' new M5's will always have been bought by companies and changes to tax law means your effectively screwed on anything over 160g Co2. on my approx calculations BIK on a new M5 is £28700 a year compared to a 535d £11000!In addition everybody seems to be cutting back in the current climate.

Agreed, the lead times are reflective of how the economy is rather than anything being fundamentally wrong with the car.
Interesting that the Frankfurt dealer has sold 18 in the past week! BMW Germany are not accepting deposits for leasing so the rate is 2000€ a month! Bloody lovely car though but I think due to the current offer it is off my new car list for June now

Just ordered an F10 In Australia (MC Blue with black, March build, May delivery). I had an E60 for three years and never really bonded with it (SMG, early I-drive etc) so I'm looking forward to seeing what the new car is like.
