Arrive & Drive - Car storage/transport/race prep - options?

Chaps,

After looking at this last year, a little late in the season - I've decided to have a go at racing this year.

Plan to is sort out the ARDS/license etc over the next couple of weeks and try!! to get on the grid for the first races of the season.

The main problem I have really is that we're currently in the middle of job/house moves - so, I need to find a series that has good team support options (in terms of car storage/transport/race prep etc) - for the early part of the season at least, time and space will be at a minimum!

From what I can gather, it's looking like either the Caterham Grads or MX5?

Are there any other series that I should take a quick look at?

Budget wise, I'm not looking at spending a vast amount on a first season, but would prefer to buy a car as opposed to hire one per race.

My limited track experience has just been some time in a 911 @ Silverstone and a BAT Caterham session at Anglesey....and to be fair, the superlight felt fast enough!

Keen to hear if there are any other options worth considering?

Also worth talking to Patrick at Rogue Motorsport re' using one of their MR2 challenge cars (Mk2 or Mk3 Roadster).

Cars are really well prepared (capable of running in top 10) and they really look after you and have helped lots of newcomers to the sport.

Reasonable prices as well!

I'd second that. The MR2 Championship now has Toyota backing and its a great series to start in. Rogue motorsport have supported me for the last two seasons and they have been outstanding in service and making you feel very welcome into the racing crowd. Takes a lot of the stress out of your first few races thats for sure!

If you fancy an arrive & drive in a Mk3 MX5, or buying one, have a look at www.mgamotorsport.com .... Mike's attention to detail is second to none, if you fancy a Mk1 MX5, speak to Fraser or Richard at Blink Motorsport, google them and you may have to e-mail them, because they are in the process of moving premises.
With regard to your ARDS test, have a look at www,teessideraceschool.co.uk where you can arrange a test at short notice, with a doctor on site to carry out the medical for £50, photographs taken on the day, basically a one stop shop at a low price!

Where do you get this idea from, Have you competed?
Its quite a sensible/gentle series with well enforced standards compared to some others I've raced in, defintely a good place to start (apart from the unusual MR2 handling).

IF you fancy an MX5 in the Ma5da racing series, tv coverage etc) give me a call, we have various arrive and drive packages available.

We have 7 Ma5da race cars, aswell various Porsche and BMWs, and about to head into Britcar this year.

Our Ma5da's completed a full season last year, and we ran two teams in the 12 hour endurance, picking up a 2nd in class by only two laps behind some 5+ year Ma5da veterans.

May be worth popping around to see us if you are local, have a go in a car etc..

I'm not sure how you can validate that comment. I've raced in the Toyota MR2 Championship now for 2 seasons and getting prepped for the 3rd. I think the driving is of a very high standard and uber competative. Yes there has been some contact in the last 2 years, but you show me a single make championship that hasn't had any.

Amazingly friendly paddock atmosphere too.
