So I've noticed it off and on - you see something in the PH advert bars that seem spookily like something you were thinking about the day before, and I have assumed that there is some sort of "logic" underneath the PH covers that does something.

Just now though I had the point hammered home. I found a bit of photo editing software I had never heard of before on Amazon, read a few reviews went to the manufacturer's website then moved on. Now having had lunch I fire up PH to find the very software I had just been looking at immediately bannered at me with links to how cheap it is on Amazon.

So is PH reading an Amazon cookie left behind on my PC or somthing? and how much data does PH actually read off my system?

Not having a "go" here, just keen to understand the concept/technology.

Thanks,
Matt

The google ads can target based on your search history, so quite possible to see ads for products that you have been browsing recently.

Little to do with PH I suspect. They will flog their ad spaces to an agency who use an ad network who do what you describe. Imagine the ads as little TVs on the PH site with the content provided by someone else. When you go to amazon you get cookied and this allows the ad network to retarget you elsewhere.

It's not all bad. I used to retarget people who has searched for a product, but not purchased after X days and offer an extra discount!
