Weird Electrical Problem - Help!

Hi All,

Hoping a resident expert can help. My 52 plate focus is playing up, have tried a new battery to no avail. After leaving it a day or two when I start it up I get no instruments, the speedo, tach fuel and temp are dead, the odo backlight works but no odo comes up. After being driven for 10 mins, if I turn off the ignition and restart all is fine.

Suggestions?

Likewise, had a new battery 3 weeks ago, then intermittantly last week all the dials stopped working, initially was ok after a restart but now failed completely.....Help please

Earth connection(s)?

I can still recall a friend asking me to have a look at his Hi-Fi unit. It had a hum, would loose stations and other weird and strange things. While he was out in the kitchen making the coffee I noticed a screw that was clearly an earth or zero volts connetion to the circuit board. I gave it a tighten and all the faults had gone! He was amazed, since he'd been buggering about with it for some time.
