That all the S series cars appear to have a big gap between the tyre and the arch (at the rear)?? Maybe not all but most appear to have... Shoot me down in flames if I'm wrong.... Always looks like the car needs lowering 2 or 3 inches ? Genuine question chaps, I'm just curious...

Can't answer your question but I can confirm that mine has the overly large gap at the rear wheel arch too.

They do that so that as the MOT man spins the rear wheel he traps his hand between the front of the tyre and the bodywork. Judging by his language it must hurt.

Hi All.
I have started some body work on the arches to close up the top gap, still a bit of glass work to do but not far off, got from the front drivers side to the rear arch in primer.

I'd have thought the big gap was so the tyres don't hit the bodywork, the back end will squat down a very long way if you launch it properly

The earlier cars (S1 & S2) sat fairly level (on their original spring/dampers), whereas the later cars had a definite nose-down stance, increasing the gap at the top of the rear wheel arch.
