Just read this article on PCGamer's website: http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/01/16/project-cars-tra...
(The trailer is well worth a watch)

Never heard of this game before reading the article, but my god does it look beautiful!

From the article;

"With no publisher to fund development, Slightly Mad have invited community members to invest in, advise on and write code for CARS in return for a share of its revenue on release. They released a new trailer yesterday showcasing their lovely engine. It’s looking veeery pretty."

Here is the developer's website: http://www.wmdportal.com/projects/cars/

And here is some pre-alpha footage of a lap comparison of Bathurst: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-B1YDOXdvHo
(Plus, it's a good excuse to watch some on board footage of Jenson Button driving a V8)

And a comparison lap of Imola: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHpx3Z9kPhE

One to keep an eye on?
It's certainly one of the most beautiful I've seen for a while. If this is only Pre-alpha, and shoe string budget....imagine what they could do with a proper publisher behind them. I certainly hope this game keeps progressing.

This is why I spent a st load of money on a PS4 and new tv...

Thought I'd bring this back up again, looks like THE driving game to wait for.
Apparently you can start in Karts and progress though whichever route you wish - F1 or GT/LeMans.
Absolutely mind blowing graphics and hopefully the attention to detail will be as good as the video.

Second video about 4 mins in shows accident damage - please let it be like that in the game!

It can look as pretty as it wants, if it doesn't handle correctly there's no point. It's why I prefer Forza to GT: Graphically inferior, but much better feel.

I hope it's great, but like the worst games there's an awful lot of pretty footage and very little hands-on out there...

Unless anyone knows differently, of course.

Still drives like a turd. It went through a period where it was OK - but then it went weird again and it's like driving on jelly everywhere.

The worry is they claim its good now. It's not.

AC / rF2 / iRacing are where I'll stay for the moment.

Agree with this, it can vary massively between builds. It will need to raise its game now that AC is released to public.

Yep. AC looks just as good, and runs at about 3x the framerate (on my rig at least).

Assetto Corsa's graphics are a mix of iracing's sterile realism and pCARS flair and detail, cockpits and the replays in particular look superb, better than pCARS in my opinion.

pCARS can often be frustrating, sometimes it runs like dogst (right now I'm getting poor gpu usage) and feels strange, other times it runs and plays quite nicely.

bugger me that looks good!

Need to upgrade my PC for sure! I hope that they just cut bits out of the console version and not just make an arcade game across all platforms.
