Buying a helmet for trackdays
Discussion
Read a couple of quite old threads, but wouldn't mind some advice.
Started to do some trackdays for the first time. Borrowed a helmet on my first one, but ideally would like my own.
A couple of questions:
What is the difference between a £150 V2 Pro and a £500 Bell?
Any place in the midlands that would be good to try a few on?
Any recommendations for someone who is realistically only going to do a few tracks a year?

I'm happy to recommend v2sport.
Both my son and I use their helmets and they represent absolutely phenomenal value for money. Plenty of other PHers have bought them and I have heard no complaints. Delivery and returns policy are both excellent. You don't feel that you have forgone any quality in bringing the product down to the price asked.
My only disappointment is that they has previously advertised an intention to include HANS compatibility for their helmets and I was planning on upgrading my son's this year, but that seems to have gone from their website.
But for trackdays, you can't fault them. www.v2sport.com

Hedtec Might also be worth a look. I have one of their full face ones, seems good value for money.
I think you can buy them through MSE, so if you go along to one of their trackdays, I think they can arrange for some to be brough along so you can try them. Best to check with them first though.

To reiterate Melindi's point. I was able to try on both a Hedtec and V2 helmet at last years Autosport show. Very similar in just about every respect but my head shape was comfier in a V2. That's why it's important to try on as many as you can.
That reminded me - someone once asked me if he should buy a second hand helmet. FFS.Gassing Station | Track Days | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
