Self Drive Hire Insurance

I have posted this discussion under another forum topic but thought I would also post it under the general discussion to see if I have any more help / replies to point me in the right direction.

I am thinking of buying a Porche but to help with running costs Etc I am thinking of hiring it out occasionally. The problem I am finding is actually getting self drive hire insuance for just the one car. All of the Insurers/brokers I have contacted so far are only able / willing to insure a fleet of vehicles.

Has anyone had any experience of getting SDH insurance for one car or know of a company that could offer insurance?

short answer--you cant!!! used to be able to a few years ago, but so many claims came in they stopped it. Even if you could the costs of insuring just one car and advertising it etc would outweigh the benefits of hiring it out in the first place.....

i have heard of some people puttin gothers on their insurance, however whilst the car will show as insured, once the insurance company investigate any claim they will not pay out once the find out you had hired the car out for money.
