Something a bit 'different' for 3k?

I'm considering coming out of a company car and buying myself a car.

I have about 3k, but I want something a bit different.

By that I mean engine swapped, tinkered with, big power or those lines.

Prefer something coupe style, pref RWD.

Maybe a BMW with a bigger engine shoved in?

Not tinkered with but it doesn't seem expensive, apparently according to picture No7 its owned by someone called Marc Hogg, Mrs Marc Hogg

Mazda rx8....rear wheel drive....coupe....rotary engine....certainly different and cheap. Bloke I know just paid 3.5K for a 2007 minter that I paid 20K for new 4 years ago.

I would always say the MR2 Turbo T-bar. But if you like the BM how about the E30 with possibly a bigger engine?

Or RX8 for £1k and £2k to have a better engine put in.... there are a few chaps on the RX8 forum who are doing conversions like Cosworth turbo lumps, Evo Lancer swaps, lexus V8.

There are also quite a few V8 E30 BMWs around these days which range from 3.5L >4.4L

It could also be possible to buy a MR-S with a Camary V6 conversion

Except for the 'HID' kit and blacked out windows. It also appears to have been de-chromed? Unusual wheels too, but don't know enough about E46 wheel choices. Very cheap for a 330Ci but not very 'different' is it?
